On 11th April 2018, the field workshop conducted in the village of Sukhum in Farkhor town. The subject of the field workshop was "New varieties of wheat and alternative crops" and representatives of Climadapt project took an active part in this event. This event was organized by Sarob Cooperative and about 40 farmers participated in this event.
Specialists of the Association of Seedlings of Tajikistan also participated in this event and gave presentations to participants. Mr. Khamatov, one of the experts of this association, presented the goals, objectives and achievements of "Improving access of small farmers to quality seeds in Tajikistan" to participants. He also spoke about the development of crop production in Khatlon region and introduced new varieties of wheat and alternative crops.
Another specialist of this association, Mr. Makhkamov, introduced the modern technology of seed production to participants. Participants were also given the opportunity to explore the results of the experiment in the field.
Climadapt Deputy Team leader spoke about the role of the project and its support and presented success stories to participants.
Sarob Cooperative is a non-governmental organization and a member of the BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) in Central Asia. The Climadapt project will continue to cooperate with the Sarob Cooperative and will promote the introduction of modern and innovative technologies in Tajikistan.
Technology workshop on solar dryers for fruits and vegetables was organized by the Climadapt team on April 25, 2018. It brought together 54 farmers of Kanibadam district. Growing apricots and peaches and their further processing and export is widely developed in Kanibadam and Isfara districts of Sugd region.
