The EBRD CLIMADAPT team together with CARITAS organized its fourth workshop on innovative climate resilience technologies dedicated to the establishment of modern orchard with drip irrigation. It took place in the “Population Employment Center” of Muminobod. Approximately 30 people have attended the seminar, including various NGOs, representatives of Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Representatives of “CARITAS” Country Program for Tajikistan, representatives of the Project “Sustainable Land and Rural Area Subsistence Management in conditions of Climate Change” in southern Tajikistan, research and training institutes, and a number of potential clients and representatives of Dekhkan farms.
This workshop was conducted by the leading expert of the Pouille Institute of France, where various topics on the management of intensive modern orchards and possible application of European standards in Tajikistan, were discussed.
After visiting several intensive orchards in Muminabad, participants were interested in purchasing seedlings from France, but since they were found too expensive (from 5.00 to 8.00 Euros a tree), CLIMADAPT PC explained the opportunities existing in Tajikistan, in particular cooperation with the local suppliers of seedlings and their contacts were shared with the attendees.
