Farah 2018 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year competition Award Ceremony

On August 23, 2018, the National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan (NABWT), in cooperation with the Government of Tajikistan, the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management, the Committee on Women and Family Affairs, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), organized an award ceremony for the winners of the “Farah 2018” - "Woman Entrepreneur of the Year" competition. This competition is held every two years in order to attract public attention to the development of women's entrepreneurship and women's employment issues, identify leaders among women entrepreneurs and disseminate their experience among young women in the country. The competition is held from 2012 and all contest participants are united into a single network of women entrepreneurs to enhance mutual exchange of experience and cooperation.

This year, 407 women entrepreneurs from all over the country submitted applications for participation in the competition. The competition was held in six nominations: production; services and catering; handicrafts/fashion/design; agriculture; medical and educational services, start-up business. All six finalists of the competition were awarded with diplomas and prizes.

Representatives of the CLIMADAPT took part in this event. The CLIMADAPT project introduces advanced technologies that are resistant to climate change and supports the business sector, contributing to the development of the country's economy. The CLIMADAPT is committed to gender equality and the empowerment of women and contributes to enhancing women's resilience to climate change by eliminating gender gaps in access to finance in Tajikistan. The share of women in the total portfolio of CLIMADAPT is 30%, a special incentive system encourages partner financial institutions to support women. The CLIMADAPT team conducted a series of gender awareness seminars for the staff of partner financial institutions to improve understanding of the segment of women entrepreneurs, their different needs and preferences. CLIMADAPT also cooperates with NABWT and promotes technologies that are resistant to climate change among the members of the Association. We wish the participants and organizers prosperity and success in implementing new ideas.
