Technology workshop on solar dryers for fruits and vegetables was organized by the Climadapt team on April 25, 2018. It brought together 54 farmers of Kanibadam district. Growing apricots and peaches and their further processing and export is widely developed in Kanibadam and Isfara districts of Sugd region.
Technology workshop on solar dryers was organized by Climadapt team on 5 April 2018, in Isfara bringing together 40 farmers and entrepreneurs. On 11th April 2018, the field workshop conducted in the village of Sukhum in Farkhor town. The subject of the field workshop was "New varieties of wheat and alternative crops" and representatives of Climadapt project took an active part in this event. This event was organized by Sarob Cooperative and about 40 farmers participated in this event.
After successfully completing a technology workshop in Tursunzade in September 2017, Climadapt team conducted another workshop in Khujand on February 26th, 2018. Total 20 farmers and entrepreneurs from different part of Sogd region participated in this workshop. The goal of the workshop was to disseminate the knowledge of new innovative technologies and specifically to promote energy efficient cold storages for fruits and vegetables.
On 21st and 28th July 2017 the Climadapt Team organized its next Technology Workshops on innovative climate resilience technologies dedicated to the Equipment Modernization, which can generate significant reduction of energy consumption and electricity bills, improve efficiency and quality of products. Approximately 50 representatives of SMEs, NGOs and Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs) from both Sogd and Khatlon regions participated in the workshops.
On the 8th of July in Nassoji Khujand/Textile City the CLIMADAPT project team comprising team leader Christophe Cordonnier, deputy team leader Farukh Kasimov, marketing co-ordinator Lola Mukhtorova, PFI relationship manager Shuhrat Komilov met with 20 representatives from pilot textile and clothing companies. They introduced the key benefits and aspects of the CLIMADAPT Credit Line and discussed the possibilities of joint co-operation.
A team of consultants led by international Lead Financial Expert Kairat Shalabay and local PFI Relationship managers Jamilya Saidova and Shuhkrat Komilov organized introductory trainings for the staff of PFI bank branches in the framework of the Climadapt project. These trainings provided information on the project criteria, loan processing, appropriate innovative technologies and marketing activities of Climadapt project. They took place in February and July 2016 in the PFI branches in Khujand, Dushanbe, J. Rasulov district and Kurgan-Tube.
A new climate financing facility in Tajikistan, CLIMADAPT, was launched in February this year. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in partnership with the PPCR, launched the fund. The UK Department for International Development (DFID) contributes funding for technical cooperation activities. The CIF is providing $5 million USD and has leveraged an additional $5M USD from EBRD to create a pilot Climate Resilience Financing Facility.
